STORIES OF ORDINARY CANADIANS DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGSThe Canadian Navy's first submarines
The story of the Canadian Navy's first submarines at the outbreak of WWI in 1914 is one of BC Premier, Richard McBride's initiative in "Answering the Call", even before the federal government in Ottawa. Although the CC 1 and 2 submarines were acquired through a cloak and dagger deal they went on to serve the country and protect Canada's vulnerable Pacific coast.
