4:00 p.m - Dedication of portrait in recognition of Admiral Richard
Leir at Leir House (old Leir family residence now a city
cultural and arts centre)'
• 7:00 -11:00 pm -Evening CNC social dinner/dance
at Penticton Legion
Sunday
2 May - Battle of Atlantic (B of A) services - Penticton,
Kelowna and Vernon. This year special public recognition will
be sought for Battle of Atlantic services in this centennial year.
Penticton - B of A will be conducted at newly
dedicated CNC Naval Cairn at Cenotaph park. Possibility of planting
of CNC Heart of Oak, oak tree (under consideration).
Kelowna - services will be conducted as usual
at the Anglican church. Possibility of planting of Oak Tree (under
consideration)
Vernon - B of A ceremony is under consideration
for the Vernon Cenotaph park venue.
Tuesday 4 May – NATIONAL NAVY DAY
Kelowna -
• 11:30 a.m-12:00 p.m CNC Flag Raising Ceremony
at entrance to Okanagan Military Museum. White Ensign
(raised by naval vets - Commemorating our navy's history), Canadian
flag (raised by Okanagan based current serving members (Reserve)
- Celebrating current navy) and CNC flag (raised by Sea Cadets
- Commitment to navy's future) with naval honours, bosun's call
and HMCS KELOWNA ships bell.
• 12:00 p.m -Official Opening of the Okanagan Military
Museum CNC Exhibit - open for remainder of the naval
centennial year. .CNC Art display is being planned as part of
OMM CNC exhibit
• 12:30 -2:00 p.m (still planning)CNC Navy Day luncheon
event at Kelowna Legion on completion of events at museum.
Tuesday
4 May - Vernon. Oak Tree planting (under consideration)
and possible evening social event at Legion/ANAF
7:00 pm, Saturday 8 May - Kelowna. Kelowna City Band 'Tribute
to the Canadian Forces and Salute to the Canadian Naval Centennial
Concert' - at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Tickets
will be on sale soon through Ticketmaster. Adults $20, Seniors/Students
$15.

7:30 pm, Monday 4 October - Penticton - Maritime
Force Pacific (Naden) Band CNC travelling road show "Sailors
and Songs " concert at Delta Lakeside Inn.
7:00 pm, Tuesday, 5 October - Kelowna -Maritime
Force Pacific (Naden) Band CNC travelling road show "Sailors
and Songs " concert at Kelowna Community Theatre. Tickets
will be on sale at the Okanagan Military Museum and Mosaic Books
Kelowna for $10 starting in May.
